Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • AGDQ 2019 kicked off this week, with a week of speedrunning games benefiting the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The event runs until Sunday 1/13
  • Bungie has announced their split in their partnership with Activision, and will assume rights for destiny moving forward (via Twitter)
  • Capcom has released a 30-minute timed demo of their upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake
  • Kingdom Heart 3‘s epilogue and “secret movie” will release as part of a post-release update as an attempt to curb spoilers (via Polygon)
  • Rockstar Games have added a bigger “battle-royale” style mode to Red Dead Online, detail other modes (via Polygon)
  • Gearbox’s former lawyer, Wade Callendar, and current CEO are currently suing each other in a pretty crazy legal battle (via Kotaku)
  • Final Destination reboot currently in the works via Saw screenwriters (via EW)
  • Eddie Murphy has confirmed that a Coming to America sequel in in development (via Rolling Stone)
