Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • The full character design for the live-action/CGI Sonic the Hedgehog movie was leaked via a branding deck on Hamagami/Caroll, Inc.’s (an adverting agency) website (via Kotaku)
  • A new trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 showed off more of the game’s story campaign, as well as returning characters from MKX like Cassie Cage, Erron Black, and Jacqui Briggs
  • EA is the latest publisher to choose not to have an E3 press conference, choosing to focus on livestreams from its own EA Play event (via Engadget)
  • Nintendo announced a new line of Nintendo Labo kits avaialble on April 12, which will be VR focused. Nintendo has described the kit as “simple and shareable” and promises to be a unique spin on VR (via Nintendo)
  • Players of Bioware’s Anthem are reporting that the game is crashing their PS4’s due to severe bugs and in other cases possibly “bricking” the device (via Polygon)
  • In other Anthem news, a Reddit user has reported that issues with loot scaling show that the starting rifle may be the most powerful weapon in the game (via Reddit)
  • A new system update for PS4 has rolled out remote play on iOS devices (via Polygon)
  • The first Diablo is now available to buy on GOG.com (via GOG)
  • The original PUBG map, Erangel, is getting a graphical remaster according to developer PUBG Corp. (via Polygon)
  • Slime Rancher is now free on the Epic Games Sore until March 21 (via Epic Games Store)
  • Octopath Traveler will be getting a prequel game on mobile devices in Japan, titled Octopath Traveler: Champion of the Continent (via Polygon)
  • Dataminers have found a tutorial video for Battlefield V‘s Firestorm mode, the long-awaited battle-royale mode coming this Spring (via Polygon)
  • The full trailer for Games of Thrones‘ final season was released by HBO. The final season premieres on April 14
  • A reveal trailer for director Ari Aster’s (Hereditary) new film, Midsommar, debuted this past week
  • A second full trailer for DC/Warner Bros’ Shazam! released. Shazam! releases on April 5
  • In other superhero movie news, Idris Elba is rumored to replace Will Smith as Deadshot in the Suicide Squad sequel from James Gunn (via Wired)
