Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • Mortal Kombat 11 had it’s full reveal on Friday, showing off new gameplay systems, story (featuring some time travel shenanigans), and some new and returning characters
    • One returning character will be Sonya Blade, who will be voiced by WWE wrestler/former MMA fighter Ronda Rousey
  • One of Anthem’s lead producers confirms the game will have matchmaking for all activities (via Twitter)
  • Developer Psyonix has rolled out cross-play for Rocket League for all systems (via Polygon)
  • A modder in the Nintendo community has discovered references to several SNES games in the Switch’s NES Online library files (via Twitter)
  • Kotaku reports that EA’s long in development open-world Star Wars game is cancelled (via Kotaku)
  • Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, a fighting game with characters spanning the entirety of the Power Rangers franchise has been announced for consoles and PC (via Polygon)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have a free trial of it’s “battle-royale” mode, Blackout (via Polygon)
  • The Division 2 will hold a private beta from Feb. 7 – 10 on PS4, XBox One and PC (via Polygon)
  • The first trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 released, showcasing Keanu Reeve’s journey to stay alive in a world of assassins looking to hunt him down (including riding a horse with an assault rifle and teaming up with Halle Berry and her dog)
  • The first teaser for this summer’s Spider-Man: Far From Home shows Peter taking a school trip to Europe, meeting Nick Fury, and running into Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio
