Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • Gearbox held a conference on Thursday 3/28 at PAX East in Boston, showcasing several game announcements, the first of which was a remaster of the original Borderlands coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 3
  • Gearbox also an Ultra HD update to the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection also coming on April 3, as well as a card game titled Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Party
  • A port of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition titled Bulletstorm: Duke of Switch Edition was also announced for Nintendo Switch coming this summer
  • Finally, the first full reveal trailer for Borderlands 3 was released. The trailer showcases the new characters, guns, and areas that players can look forward to. More info is planned to be announced on April 3 according to the end of the trailer
  • Bethesda plans to bring RAGE 2, Wolfenstein: Young Blood, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, DOOM Eternal, as well as Fallout 76 to Steam later this year (via Bethesda’s Twitter)
  • The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nintendo will announce and launch two new Switch model later this year (via WSJ)
  • Apple held a press conference on Monday 3/25, announcing Apple TV Plus, its new foray into the streaming model (via Polygon)
    • Apple Arcade was also announced, a gaming subscription service (via Polygon)
  • PlayStation held its first State of Play livestream, a Nintendo Direct-like game showcase stream
    • Some of the highlights of the stream included the announcement of Marvel’s Iron Man VR, a Five Nights at Freddy’s VR game and highlights of several other previously announced games
  • Part of the livestream also included a new Mortal Kombat 11 trailer, showcasing more of the game’s time-travel shenanigans. The trailer also confirms the return of MK veterans Jax, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang
  • Sony will stop selling download codes through retailers, starting April 1 (via Polygon)
  • EA has reportedly laid off 350 workers, according to CEO Andrew Wilson (via EA)
  • A new trailer for SNK’s new Samurai Shodown confirmed that the game will release in June
  • A new trailer for Wolfenstein: Young Blood was released, showcasing the game’s 80’s aesthetic. The game releases on July 26 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch
  • Yacht Club games revealed Cyber Shadow, a new retro-style Ninja Gaiden-esque action platform game in partnership with Mechanical Head Studio
  • Conan Exiles and The Surge will be coming to PlayStation Plus subscribers in April
  • Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will see endgame content drop on April 5 (via Polygon)
  • Sony’s chairman, Kaz Harai, will be stepping down and retiring on June 18 (via Sony)
  • Nintendo is offering up to 1-year subscriptions for Nintendo Switch online if you are a Amazon/Twitch prime subscriber (via Twitch)
  • The Evil Dead‘s Ash Williams (voiced by Bruce Campbell) is joining multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight as a survivor
  • The Sega Genesis Mini has been announced, and will release on Sept. 19 for $79.99
    • It will come packed with 40 classic Genesis games, a miniature version of the console, and two USB controllers
    • 10 of the games have been announced so far, with more to be revealed over time
  • Sega has announced a new entry in the Sakura Wars series coming to the West, a tactical RPG game series not known for many entries in the West
  • Adi Shankar, producer of the Castlevania Netflix animated series, has confirmed he is working on production of a Hyper Light Drifter adaptation (via Destructoid)
  • The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, a narrative adventure game developed by Daedalic Entertainment, is set to release in 2021 (via IGN)
  • Warcraft and Warcraft 2 are now available on GOG.com (via Destructoid)
  • A new trailer for CBS All Access’ The Twilight Zone released, showing some of what fans can expect on April 1
  • The first trailer for Nickelodeon’s live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer, titled Dora and The Lost City of Gold was released. The film releases August 2nd
  • The first full trailer for the Guillermo del Toro produced live-action adaptation of the classic horror books (for kids!) was released. The film releases on August 9th
  • Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame will reportedly have a run-time of over 3 hours, according to AMC Theaters (via IGN)
  • Angelia Jolie is reportedly in talks for Marvel’s The Eternals (via Screenrant)
