Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • Juan “Hungrybox” DeBiedma gets hit by a crab thrown by an attendee during grand finals of a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament (via Polygon)
  • Sega’s Puyo Puyo Champions, a competitive version of the popular puzzle game, is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in the U.S on May 7
  • Super Mario Maker 2 will come to Nintendo Switch on June 28 (via Twitter)
  • Polygon ran a report on the culture of development on Epic Games’ Fortnite, detailing the intense pressure on keeping the game updated (via Polygon)
  • In other Fortnite news, the game has released its limited-time Avengers: Endgame tie-in event
  • Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has announced that “the company will end the practice of securing exclusive game releases for its store” if Valve will match Epic’s revenue share for developers and publishers (via Polygon)
  • Atlus has announced Persona 5: The Royal, an expanded version of he 2017 JRPG with new content. Persona 5: The Royal comes to Japan on Oct. 31, 2019 and other regions sometime in 2020
  • Atlus also announced a Dynasty Warriors flavored version of Persona 5, titled Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. The game is a collaboration between Atlus and Koei Tecmo
  • Bioware has delayed its new event and other new content in Anthem to prioritize bug and stability fixes (via Polygon)
  • Blizzard has announced a new details regarding Overwatch‘s new Workshop mode. The new mode allows players to create their own heroes and game modes (via Blizzard)
  • Mercy and Lucio will be getting new skins in celebration of the Overwatch League 2019 All-Stars Event (via Destructoid)
  • Despite reports to the contrary, Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa addressed shareholders and told them there is no plans for the reveal of a cheaper model of Nintendo Switch this June (via Bloomberg)
  • PlayStation has announced a new documentary series on YouTube detailing the development of 2018’s God of War
  • Sony s running a Golden Week themed sale on PSN, discounting a ton of Japanese developed games until May 7 (via PlayStation Blog)
  • Kingdom Hearts 3 will get new content in the form of a DLC called ReMIND (via Polygon)
  • Rick Fox, former NBA player and co-founder of e-sports organization Echo Fox, will be stepping down from the company due to racist remarks and abuse made by a company shareholder (via Polygon)
  • Kansas City Chiefs QB Patruck Mahomes was revealed as the cover athlete for EA Sport’s Madden NFL 20. The game will feature a new campaign mode that takes a created QB from the NCAA to the NFL
  • Apex Legends developer Respawn has detailed a road map for content development in future seasons (via Polygon)
  • The first trailer for Will Smith’s new sci-fi/action movie Gemini Man debuted, showing Smith facing a younger version of himself. The film is directed by Ang Lee, and releases Oct. 11
  • The final trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters was released. The film releases on May 31
  • A new trailer for Men In Black: International was released. The film stars Thor: Ragnarok co-stars Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, and releases on June 14
  • A new trailer for HBO’s Deadwood movie was released. The film premieres May 31 on HBO
