Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

 

  • GTA V and GTA Online will come to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 11

 

  • Saints Row: The Third Remastered is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a free upgrade available to those who own previous-gen console versions
    • The upgraded versions sees the game running at 4K and up to 60 fps 

 

  • Sony and developer Naughty Dog released a new patch for The Last of Us: Part II that adds better performance and graphical fidelity when running on the PS5

 

  • Bless Unleashed developer Round 8 Studios announced their next game, a “Souls-inspired” action game with a dark twist on the Pinocchio fairy-tale titled Lies of P
    • The game is set to release on PC, Google Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X in 2023

 

  • Nintendo released several classic NES and SNES game for Nintendo Online subscribers

 

  • Publisher Deep Silver announced the reformation of TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design
    • Several key members of the developer are returning to form the new iteration of the studio, and are confirmed to be working on a TimeSplitters project

 

  • Nintendo showcased the functionality of the Zelda and Loftwing Amiibo accompanying the release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on Nintendo Switch
    • The new Amiibo allows for fast-travel from any point in the game

 

  • Ni No Kuni II is coming to Nintendo Switch in the form of Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Prince’s Edition
    • The re-release of the 2018 RPG comes to Switch on September 18

 

  • Overwatch‘s Anniversary event is now live through June 8, adding new limited-time cosmetics for players to earn as well as returning modes/cosmetics from every Overwatch event

 

  • Blizzard hosted a livestream showcasing the updates to Overwatch 2‘s PVP mode, with some notable updates including:
    • Games will now be 5v5, with only one tank on each team
    • Minor tweaks to each returning character
    • Updates on new maps, and a new mode called Push

 

  • No Man’s Sky players discovered a surprising Easter egg in the game’s latest Expedition, Mass Effect‘s SSV Normandy SR-1

 

  • In movie/animation news, an animated film based on the WB/DC Injustice fighting-game franchise is apparently in development (via Destructoid)

 

  • The first trailer for Trese, based on the eponymous Filipino comic, was released
    • The animated series premieres June 11 on Netflix

 

  • A new trailer for Respect, a biopic focused on the early career of the legendary Aretha Franklin, was released 
    • Starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, the biopic arrives in theaters in August

 

  • Disney released its first trailer for The Mysterious Benedict Society, based on the Trenton Lee Stewart book series
    • The series releases on Disney+ June 25

 

  •  The first trailer for HBO Max’s Friends reunion special was released
    • The special hits the streaming service on May 27
