With “E3” starting this week, take a look at some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • Respawn Entertainment revealed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor during this year’s Star Wars Celebration event
    • A sequel to 2019’s Fallen Order, the game is planned to release in 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5,, and Xbox Series X

 

  • Virtua Fighter 5 released a DLC collaboration with Tekken 7 on June 1, adding skins, music and UI changes from the fellow popular 3D fighter

 

  • A new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was released, teasing new features such as co-op, the game’s new open world, and new Pokémon including the games new legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon
    • Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release on Nov. 18 on Nintendo Switch

 

  • Undertale and Deltarune creator Toby Fox revealed that he composed the field music for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

 

  • EA Sports released the first gameplay footage for Madden NFL 23, focused on the game’s new features
    • Madden NFL 23 releases on Aug. 18, with the late John Madden gracing this year’s cover

 

  • PlayStation Plus subscribers get God of War (2018), Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl this month

 

  • Tell Me Why, from Life is Strange developers Dontnot, is free on Xbox and PC to celebrate Pride Month

 

  • Sega revealed the first gameplay for Sonic Frontiers, showing off the game’s open world design

 

  • BioWare revealed the title for its next Dragon Age game as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf
    • The developer mentions in a blog post that more details about the game are coming soon

 

  • Sony streamed a new State of Play, showcasing a slate of new game announcements for PS5, PS4, and PS VR2. Take a look at the highlights from trailers below:

 

  • The long-rumored remake of Resident Evil 4 was revealed, coming to PS5 on March 23, 2023
    • Content utilizing PS VR2 was also teased during the announcement

 

  • Capcom also released a teaser for Resident Evil Village‘s PS VR2 content  

 

  • The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Ch. 2 was revealed for PS VR2, relasing sometime later this year

 

  • Developer Hello Games revealed that PS VR2 support for No Man’s Sky is currently in development

 

  • Guerilla Games gave a first look at gameplay from Horizon Call of the Mountain, coming to PS VR2
    • The developer also announced a new update to Horizon Forbidden West, adding updated visuals to its Performance mode, New Game+, and harder difficulties

 

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is coming to PC on Aug. 12 
    • Marvel’s Spider-Man:Miles Morales is also slated to arrive on PC at a later date

 

  • Stray got a new trailer during the livestream, announcing a release date of July 19 on PS4 and PS5

 

  • The Callisto Protocol, the first game from Striking Distance Studios (founded by Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield), got a new gameplay trailer as well as a release date of Dec. 2

 

  • OlliOlli series developer Rool7 revealed their next game, a roller skating shooter titled Rollerdrome

 

  • Capcom revealed a first look at Street Fighter 6 gameplay, featuring the return of series staples Ryu and Chun-Li along with a few new battlers and a look at the game’s sing player campaign
    • The latest in the long-running fighting game series releases sometime in 2023

 

  • Capcom released a follow-up trailer showcasing the Street Fighter 6‘s real-time commentary options, featuring the voices of several notable fighting game commentators

 

  • Indie adventure game Tunic is coming to PS4 and PS5 on Sept. 27

 

  • Season: A letter to the future, from indie developer Scavengers Studio, got a new trailer and a release date of Fall 2022

 

  • Final Fantasy XVI got a new trailer, showcasing the game’s story and gameplay
    • Final Fantasy XVI comes to PS5 in Summer 2023

 

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II released it’s first teaser trailer after getting revealed the previous week, with the game set to release on Oct. 28 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

 

 

  • In movie/streaming news, Disney released the first trailer for their live-action Pinocchio movie
    • Starring Tom Hanks and directed by Robert Zemeckis, the movie hits Disney Plus on Sept. 8 

 

  • Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness comes to Disney Plus on June 22

 

  • HBO’s Our Flag Means Death has been renewed for a second season
  • Will Arnett will play Sweet Tooth in Peacock’s live-action adaptation of Twisted Metal (via Polygon)
