Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:


  • Developer Techland announced that Dying Light 2 Stay Human has been delayed to Feb. 4, 2022


  • Sony launched the PlayStation 5’s second major System Software update, including UX updates, 3D audio support for TV speakers, as well as internal storage upgrade support via M.2 SSD storage expansion


  • Ren and Stimpy were revealed a the latest additions to Super Smash Bros-like Nickelodeon All Star Brawl
    • The platform fighter releases on PC and consoles on Oct. 5


  • A new trailer for Star Wars: Hunters was released, showing off a cinematic depicting a battle between several Star Wars mainstays such as a bounty hunter, Sith, Stormtrooper, Jedi, and Wookie 
    • The multiplayer game is slated to release on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in 2022


  • Ubisoft has delayed the release of Rocksmith+ to sometime in 2022


  • A new color variant, Midnight Black, of Sony’s Pulse 3D wireless headphones were announced and will release on Oct. 22


  • The latest Nintendo Switch firmware update now allows for users to pair Bluetooth devices for audio output 
    • The game releases on PC and consoles on March 25, 2022


  • Battlefield 2042 has been delayed to Nov. 19
    • The game was originally stated to release on Oct. 22


  • Deltarune Chapter 2 got a surprise announcement last week, releasing two days after its initial announcement on Sept. 17


  • Rare released a new trailer for season 4 of Sea of Thieves, teasing the new content players will be able to encounter


  • THQ Nordic announced Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, a remake of the 2006 game, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in 2022
    • The announcement was made during THQ Nordic’s 10 year celebration stream


  • THQ Nordic also announced Jagged Alliance 3, a new entry in the turn-based tactics series and the first since 1999
    • Jagged Alliance 3 is slated to release on PC in 2022 


  • A new SpongeBob SquarePants game was announced, titled SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake
    • The game is being developed by Purple Lamp Studios, the team behind last year’s SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated


  • Monster Hunter Rise is getting another collaboration DLC, this time in the form of a Mega Man crossover event 
    • The collab adds Mega Man‘s dog Rush as a cosmetic for the player character’s Palamute companion


  • In streaming/TV news, HBO released their first trailer for the third season of Succession


  • Disney/Marvel released the first trailer for it’s Hawkeye series, featuring the debut of Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop
    • The series premieres on Disney+ on Nov. 24 


  • The first trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s latest film, Nightmare Alley, was released
    • Based on the novel of the same name, the film releases on Dec. 17


  • The first official trailer for Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of West Side Story was released
    • The classic musical hits theaters on Dec. 10
