Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • Nioh 2 will be getting a public beta on PlayStation 4 from Nov. 1 through Nov. 10
  • Dragon Quest 1-3 wail be released on Nintendo Switch on Sept. 27
  • Undertale/Deltarune developer Toby Fox has begun teasing music for the next portion of Deltarune in development
  • Reports have shown that E3 2020 will attempt to rebrand as a “fan, media, and influencer festival”, in an attempt by the ESA to drive more attendees (via GameDaily.biz)
  • Bungie released a new video in their ViDoc series that reveals their story and content plans for Year 3 and further of Destiny 2 and their Shadowkeep expansion
  • Rockstar Games released the Rockstar Games Launcher for PC with GTA: San Andreas being available for free who download the client (via Rockstar Games)
  • Japanese trademarks were discovered revealing possible re-releases or remasters of several Bandai Namco properties, including Klonoa, Splattethouse, and Mr Driller (via Polygon)
  • Anthem developer Bioware is ditching its planned content structure in favor of delivering long-term support to the game (via Bioware)
  • After a brief tease, The Pokémon Company revealed Sirfetch’d for Pokémon Sword and Shield, a Galar region evolution of Farfetch’d
  • Red Dead Online players have discovered zombie NPCs in the games swamp areas, possibly teasing Undead Nightmare-like content for the game (via Polygon)
  • Developer Lab Zero Games (Skullgirls) released the opening animation for their upcoming action-RPG Indivisible, made by anime houses Studio Trigger and Titmouse
  • Borderlands 3 will be getting its first free content in the form of Bloody Harvest, a Halloween-themed in-game event that will bring new loot, enemies, and a new area (via Gearbox)
  • Players who participate in this weekend’s cross-platform beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and get to at least Level 10 will earn the “Hammer Shotgun” for use in the full release (via Activision Games Blog)
  • The Epic Games Store is giving out six Batman games for free on its platform in celebration of Batman Day, including three of the Batman: Arkham games and Lego: Batman Trilogy until Sept. 26 (via Epic Games Store)
  • In another Batman Day celebration, Fortnite announced their crossover for a limited time Fortnite x Batman event
  • WB Games Montreal (Batman: Arkham Origins) also seem to be teasing a new Batman game, with several brief logos flashing during a video released on Batman Day
  • Sony will be broadcasting its next PlayStation State of Play livestream on Sept. 24
  • Along with the announcement, developer Naughty Dog teased that more info on The Last of Us: Part II will be revealed during the State of Play broadcast
  • IO interactive revealed the final DLC add-on for Hitman 2, titled Haven Island
    • The new area will be available to Expansion Pass owners on Sept. 24
  • Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator Yuji Naka has announced that he is working on a new action game for Square Enix
  • The next title in the Total War strategy series, A Total War Saga: TROY was revealed
  • Afterparty, the next game from indie developer Nigh School Studio (Oxenfree) will release for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on Oct. 29 with a Nintendo Switch release date to come
  • In movie news, a new trailer for Rian Johnson’s (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Looper) murder mystery Knives Out was released
    • The film hits theaters on Nov. 27
  • The first trailer for Apple TV Plus’ Dickinson, starring Haille Steinfeld, was released
    • The series premieres on the new streaming service on Nov. 1
