Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • Respawn Entertainment revealed Apex Legends‘ next playable Legend, Fuse
    • The character comes to Apex Legends along with Season 8 on Feb. 2

 

  • After controversy surrounding the ability for PC players to import levels from Hitman and Hitman 2 into Hitman 3 on the Epic Games Store, Epic and developer IO Interactive announced plans to work on a solution to allow player to export saves from the Steam version on PC

 

  • Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 21

 

  • Former Sega, Xbox, and EA executive Peter Moore is returning to the games industry as SVP and GM Sports and Live Entertainment at Unity

 

  • The Predator is coming to Fornite, as part of the game’s Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass

 

  • The Terminator‘s Sarah Connor and T-800 are also coming to Fortnite as purchasable skins

 

  • After some minor controversy regarding comments on the game’s accessibility, developer Behavior Interactive revealed multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight will get colorblind options in a future update

 

  • Capcom hosted a Resident Evil Showcase stream, revealing several tidbits regarding the upcoming Resident Evil Village and more:
    • The game is arriving on May 7 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, as well as PS4 and Xbox One consoles
      • Players who buy the previous-gen versions will be able to upgrade to PS5 ad Xbox Series X/S for free
    • A free demo, titled “Maiden”, is now available on PlayStation 5, with a subsequent demo becoming available later this Spring o other platforms
    • A multiplayer component, titled Resident Evil Re: Verse will arrive along with Resident Evil Village
    • Resident Evil 25th Anniversary Crossover event cosmetics are coming to Ubisoft’s The Division 2 in early February 
  • Tencent has purchased a majority stake in developer Klei Entertainment, the indie studio known for survival game Don’t Starve (via Klei Entertainment)
  • Tony Hawk 1+2 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy developers Vicarious Visions has reportedly been merged into Blizzard, becoming “fully dedicated” to working on Blizzard titles going forward (via Gamesindustry.biz)

 

  • Microsoft reversed their recent decision to up the pricing of Xbox Live Gold, and will be removing the requirement of needing Xbox Live Gold in order to play any free-to-play online games
  • The Resident Evil 4 remake is reportedly going through some developer turmoil, with original developer M-Two getting a lesser role due to disagreements on how faithful the game should remain to the original (via VGC)

 

  • In movie/streaming news, several films have been delayed due to COVID-19, including:
    • No Time to Die, the latest Daniel Craig Bond movie, has been pushed to Oct. 8
    • Ghostbusters: Afterlife was pushed back to Nov. 11
    • The Uncharted movie has been delayed to Feb. 11, 2022

 

  • The first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong was released
    • The latest in WB’s Monsterverse releases in theaters and HBO Max on March 26th
