Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • The first gameplay for Mortal Kombat 11’s latest DLC character, Spawn, was revealed
    • The Todd McFarlane character, voiced by actor Keith David, will be available for Kombat Pack owners on March 17
  • Call of Duty: Warzone, a free-to-play standalone battle royale version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was launched
    • Launching with two game modes, the multiplayer shooter is free to download for consoles and PC
  • Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé will join GameStop’s board of directors on April 20 (via Polygon)
  • 2K has signed a multi-year deal with the NFL to develop multiple games, reported as “non-simulation football game experiences” for now (via Polygon)
  • EA announced Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, which will bring Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Command & Conquer: Red Alert, along with three expansion packs: Covert OpsCounterstrike, and The Aftermath
    • The collection will release on PC via Steam and Origin on June 5th
  • A new trailer for the upcoming Doom Eternal showcased the game’s cosmetic costumes, including a Twitch Prime exclusive skin titled Doomicorn
  • Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer, according to Hermen Hulst, head of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios (via PlayStation Blog)
  • E3 2020 has joined the long list of events, such as SXSW and more, to be cancelled due the concerns surrounding COVID-19 (via Ars Technica)
  • In the wake of E3’s cancellation, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Nintendo are reportedly working on possible solutions regarding news out to customers/fans (via Polygon)
  • The Overwatch League has put its upcoming season of competitive play on hold due to growing Coronavirus concerns
  • Overwatch lead writer Michael Chu has departed Blizzard after spending 20 years at the studio
  • Developer Metalhead Software announced Super Mega Baseball 3, the latest in a line of critically acclaimed arcade-style baseball games
    • The game is scheduled to release on PC and all consoles with cross-play multiplayer in April
  • Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record, a VR game based in Sega’s Panzer Dragoon series, will release sometime next year (via Polygon)
  • Nintendo and Lego announced a new partnership in Lego Super Mario, an interactive building game where players can build levels and play
    • The set is scheduled to release later this year
  • The 1997 Blade Runner adventure game will get a remaster in the form of Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One later this year (via Polygon)
  • Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs and indie hit The Stanley Parable will be free on the Epic Games Store this week from March 19-26 (via Polygon)
  • Overwatch’s Archives event is now live, bringing variations of past Archives game modes as well as the usual skins, sprays, and other event cosmetics
    • The yearly event runs until April 2nd
  • Ubisoft’s For Honor is running a Prince of Persia themed crossover event, titled Blades of Persia, until April 2nd
  • Remedy Games’ first expansion for Control, titled The Foundation, will release on March 26th
  • Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann announced that The Last of Us composer Gustavo Santaolalla will be composing music for the HBO series adaptation
  • In gaming/movie news, the first trailer for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge was released during Final Kombat 2020
    • The animated feature releases digitally on April 12th
  • Marvel released the final trailer for Black Widow before its release on May 1st
  • Several films set to be released this Spring have been delayed due to COVID-19 concerns, including
    • Disney’s Mulan live-action adaptation delayed to an undetermined date (via Polygon)
    • The latest Fast & Furious movie, F9, has been delayed until April 2021 (via Universal Pictures)
    • Actor/director John Krasinski announced that the release of A Quiet Place Part 2 would be indefinitely delayed (via Instagram)
  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released early on digital marketplaces on March 13th (via Polygon)
  • In a surprise move, Disney also announced that Frozen 2 would be available to stream on Disney+ starting on March 15th
  • A new trailer for Pixar’s next animated feature, Soul, was released
    • Pixar’s latest, starring Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey, releases on June 19th
  • A new trailer for Disney’s Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt was released
    • The film adaptation of the hit Disney ride hits theaters on July 24th
  • Apple TV+ is launching an animated musical series from the creator of Bob’s Burgers, titled Central Park
    • Starring an ensemble cast including Josh Gad, Kristen Bell, Tituss Burgess, and Stanley Tucci, the series starts on May 29th
  • The first full trailer for director Spike Jonez’s Beastie Boys Story, a documentary chronicling the lives and careers of the group was released
    • The doc will hit select theaters on April 2nd before coming to Apple TV+ on April 24th
