Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • The live service producer on BioWare’s Anthem, Chad Robertson, has left the company
  • A list of Pokémon Sword and Shield final roster of creatures has reportedly leaked ahead of the game’s Nov. 15 release (via Polygon)(Spoiler warning)
  • Popular Fornite steamer and YouTuber Faze Jarvis was permanently banned from the game after releasing videos of himself showcasing using cheating software (via Polygon)
  • During a video documentary with the BBC, Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima offered his thoughts on the future of game streaming, and shared that Kojima Productions could possibly get into movie production
  • During a recent interview with PC Gamer, Blizzard president revealed that it will not repeal Hearthstone player blitzchung’s punishment despite the company’s apology during Blizzcon 2019 (via PC Gamer)
  • Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan revealed in an interview with The Washington Post that he personally feels the blitzchung punishment should be “reduced more or eliminated” (via The Washington Post)
  • A new video for Pokémon Sword and Shield showcased some of the upcoming game’s new quality-of-life features
  • A preview of Undertale/Deltarune creator Toby Fox’s song for the upcoming game was also released by The Pokémon Company
  • Pokémon Go has added new quests that will lead players to fight Team Rocket leader Giovanni (via Polygon)
  • Nintendo showcased Fatal Fury/King of Fighters veteran Terry Bogard in a lengthy video presentation from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai
    • Terry is now available to download to those who purchased the game’s Fighter Pass DLC, or bought the character individually
  • In a blog post from developer IO Interactive, as Hitman 2‘s content roadmap winds down, the studio is reportedly starting development on the next Hitman game (via IO Interactive)
  • Shuhei Yoshida is stepping down as president of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios, and will be taking on a new role as part of “a newly formed initiative that will focus on nurturing external independent creators”
    • Hermen Hulst, managing director and co-founder of Guerrilla Games (Killzone series, Horizon Zero Dawn) will take over the role in the shakeup (via Polygon)
  • Days Gone is adding Death Stranding themed gear in celebration of the game’s release
  • Developer Obsidian’s recently released The Outer Worlds will reportedly be coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in early 2020 according to a earnings call from publisher Private Division (via Polygon)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has released two new maps for its multiplayer suite, along with returning mode Hardpoint
  • In movie news, actors Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell are reportedly in talks to join the cast of The Batman, releasing in 2021
    • Serkis has reportedly been cast as butler Alfred Pennyworth, and Farrell as The Penguin (via The Wrap)
  • A new trailer for Bad Boys For Life, the third Bad Boys film starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, was released
    • The film hits theaters on Jan. 17, 2020
  • A teaser trailer for Pixar’s Soul was released, starring the voices of Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey
    • The animated feature arrives on June 19, 2020
  • The first trailer for Color Out of Space, an adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft shot story of the same name, was released
    • Starring Nicolas Cage, the trippy science-fiction thriller arrives on Jan. 24, 2020
  • The first trailer for Universal’s The Invisible Man remake was released
    • Directed by Leigh Whannell (SAW series, Insidious series) and starring Elisabeth Moss, the thriller releases on Feb. 28, 2020
