Weekly Wrapup – I’m Gonna Pokémon Snap Edition

Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • EA formally revealed Star Wars: Squadrons, a new Star Wars-themed dogfighting game that will release on October 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, as well as PC via Steam, Origin, and the Epic Games Store

  • Indie studio The Glory Society (Night in the Woods) showed off a teaser screenshot of their next game, with more info to come soon 

  • EA Sports showed off a first look at Madden NFL 21 gameplay
    • The long-running football sim comes to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 28 with versions coming to next-generation consoles later this year
  • The Pokémon Company broadcasted a Pokémon Presents livestream on June 17, providing inforamtion regrading several new games/services

  • New Pokémon Snap was announced for Nintendo Switch, a followup to the classic N64 title

  • Pokémon Smile, a free mobile app designed to gameify tooth brushing for kids was released

  • Pokémon Cafe Mix, a free-to-play puzzle game, was announced for mobile and Nintendo Switch

  • Mega Evolutions will be coming to Pokémon GO later this year

  • Developer CD Project Red announced that the hotly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed again, and will now release on November 19 

  • EA Play, EA’s yearly press conference/livestream, announced several new games and updates, including:
    • Apex Legends will come to Nintendo Switch this Fall (via 
    • Developer Respawn also announced that crossplay would be coming to the game on every platform later this year
    • New looks at Star Wars: Squadron gameplay and VR Support
    • A new co-op game from Hazelight (A Way Out), titled It Takes Two, was announced to release in 2021
    •  A new Skate game is currently in development at EA

  • Injustice: Gods Among Us is now free to own on PC, PS4, and Xbox One until June 25

  • In movie news, director Nia DaCosta released a new teaser trailer for Candyman 
    • The horror revival is set to release on September 25

  • A new trailer for Palm Springs, a Groundhog Day-esque sci-fi comedy produced by The Lonely Island, was released
    • The Andy Samberg led comedy comes to Hulu on July 10
