Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

 

  • Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone arrives Feb. 25 on all platforms
    • The free content update adds new maps, modes, weapons to standard multiplayer as well as a new Zombies mode
    • A bigger update to Call of Duty: Warzone was also teased

 

  • Developer Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix revealed that Hawkeye will come to Marvel’s Avengers on March 18, adding a new playable campaign and content based on the bow and arrow hero

 

  • No Man’s Sky’s latest update has added customizable companion aliens that players can tame, train, and breed as pets
    • Pets also have district personalities and traits, ad can be traded with other players
  • Metal Gear Solid: The Board Game has been cancelled, according to publisher IDW Games (via Polygon)
  • Microsoft is giving select backwards compatible games updates with an FPS boost on Xbox Series X /S, including Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 2 to start (via Xbox)
  • Nintendo livestreamed a 50-minute Nintendo Direct on 2/17, focused on games and updates releasing the first half of 2021. Take a look at some of highlights below

 

  • Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are coming as a combined character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
    • The character will release in March as part of the game’s Fighter Pass Vol. 2 DLC

 

  • Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout  is coming to Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021

 

  • Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind are getting remade for Nintendo Switch
    • Originally released on the Famicom in Japan only, the two mystery games come to Nintendo Switch on May 14

 

  • Mario Golf: Super Rush is coming to Nintendo Switch on June 25

 

  • A new trailer for No More Heroes III was released, revealing the game’s release date as August 27

 

  • Miitopia, the Mii-themed RPG originally released on Nintendo 3DS, is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 21

 

  • Super Mario themed items are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in an update on Feb. 25

 

  • The critically acclaimed indie hit Outer Wilds is coming to Nintendo Switch this Summer

 

  • Samurai Warriors 5 is coming to Nintendo Switch this Summer

 

  • Legend of Mana, originally released for PlayStation in 1999, is getting remastered for Nintendo Switch to release on June 24

 

  • Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 19

 

  • Project Triangle Strategy, a new strategy RPG from the developers behind Octopath Traveler, is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022
    • A free demo is now available on Nintendo Switch

 

  • Neon White, a new game from Donut County creator Ben Esposito, is coming to Nintendo Switch sometime this year

 

  • Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse, originally released on Xbox in 2005, is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 16

 

  • World’s End Club, from the directors of both the Danganronpa and Zero Escape series, comes to Nintendo Switch on May 28

 

  • Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection comes to Nintendo Switch on Jun 10
    • Containing Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge the collection also comes to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles

 

  • An expansion pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is now available, with new content coming in May, June, and November this year

 

  • SaGa Frontier Remastered, a remaster of the 1998 JRPG, is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 15

 

  • After announcing that news on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel will come later this year, Zelda producer Eiji Aunonuma revealed The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for Nintendo Switch
    • Originally released on Nintendo Wii in 2011, the remaster releases with updated controls on July 16

 

  • To end the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed Splatoon 3 
    • The squid/kid shooter comes to Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022

 

  • Multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight has received several of its maps and other visuals reworked in its “Realm Beyond” update
    • One of said updates is the long-asked-for colorblind mode

 

  • Amazon Games Studios’ MMO New World has been delayed, now launching on Aug. 31

 

  • Hitman 3 on PC/Epic Games Store can now import levels from Hitman and Hitman 2 at no additional fee 

 

  • Shovel Knight themed armor and cosmetics are coming to Ubisoft’s For Honor

 

  • During BlizzCon, Blizzard announced Blizzard Arcade Collection for PC, PS4, and Xbox One had released
    • Containing early Blizzard games, the collection consists of The Lost VikingsBlackthorne, and Rock N Roll Racing

 

  • World of Warcraft Classic is getting the game’s first expansion, Burning Crusade

 

  • Blizzard also showed off brief glimpses at Overwatch 2, showing off updated character designs as well as new maps and the long-awaited Sojourn character

 

  • Diablo IV‘s newest class, the Rogue, got a first look during BlizzConline

 

  • The long-rumored Diablo II remake/remaster was revealed as Diablo II: Resurrected
    • The remaster includes the Lord of Destruction expansion, and will come to PC and consoles later this year

  • Developer/publisher Panic revealed a fun Easter egg in the Nintendo Switch version of Firewatch, where players can find a hidden game cartage to play a parody Nintendo 64-like game

 

  • Street Fighter‘s Ryu and Chun-Li are joining Fortnite‘s cavalcade of crossover characters during the game’s Zero Point event

 

  • In animation/streaming/games news, an animated DOTA series is coming to Netflix in a partnership with Valve titled DOTA: Dragon’s Blood

 

  • The first trailer for the Mortal Kombat reboot film was released
    • The fatality-filled action movie arrives exclusively on HBO Max on April 16

 

  • The first trailer for Disney’s Cruella, based on the titular villain from 101 Dalmatians and starring Emma Stone, was released
    • The prequel film releases on May 28
