Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • WWE and 2K Games revealed that this year will not see a WWE 2K game release, but will see the release of an arcadey spin-off game WWE 2K Battlegrounds
    • Battlegrounds is being developed by Saber Interactive, the developer behind the NBA 2K Playgrounds series
  • Sony revealed the update release dates for The Last of Us Part II, coming out June 19, and Ghosts of Tsushima, which will release on July 17
  • A TV series based on Gearbox’s Brothers in Arms series is currently in development (via Polygon)
  • EA will bring several of its games to the Google Stadia platform, including Star wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Madden NFl, and FIFA (via Polygon)
  • Modder Lance McDonald has been able to patch From Software’s Bloodborne to run at 60fps on PS4
  • The most recent update to Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s multiplayer, adding Rogue One‘s Scarif, will repotedly be the game’s final update (via Polygon)
  • Ubisoft revealed the next Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
    • The Vikings-flavored entry in the long-running series will come to PC, PS5, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X this holiday
  • Microsoft’s Xbox team will reveal new looks at games coming to the Xbox Series X on May 7
  • Respawn revealed the next character that will appear in Apex Legends upcoming Season 5, Loba
  • Valve has cancelled this year’s major Dota 2 event, The International, due to the COVID-19 pandemic (via Polygon)
    • The event is expected to return in 2021
  • The Steam PC version of Star Wars: Battlefront (2004) has been updated to add online multiplayer (via Polygon)
  • After an apparent leak that revealed major details regarding Naughty Dog’s upcoming The Last of Us Part II, Sony has disclosed that they have found the third-party hacker responsible (via Polygon)
  • Bungie revealed that starting in the Fall, Destiny 2‘s seasonal activities and content will become yearly (via Bungie)
  • In TV/streaming news, HBO revealed a first look at Lovecraft Country, a new thriller series about Lovecraft creatures in Jim Crow South
    • Produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, the series debuts in August
  • The revival of Reno911, last seen on Comedy Central in 2009, has premiered on the Quibi app
  • A special episode of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, whose final season released last year, will come to Netflix on May 12th
    • The episode will feature Netflix’s Choose Your Own Adventure-style tech
  • In movie news, John Wick 4 has been delayed a year, and will release on May 27, 2022 (via Polygon)
