Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • The full specs for the Xbox Series were revealed along with details for the console’s new controller, console features, and upgrades to previously released games such as Gears 5 and Minecraft (via Xbox)
  • Nintendo streamed another Indie World presentation on March 17, detailing new indie titles that would be coming to the Nintendo Switch
  • Highlights of the stream included:
  • Hello Games’ (No Man’s Sky) next title, The Last Campfire, will arrive this summer
  • Baldo, a previously announced indie action-adventure game with a Studio Ghibili-like art style, was revealed to be a time console exclusive releasing this summer
  • I Am Dead, a puzzle-adventure game, will come to Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive later this year
  • Cyanide & Happiness: Freakpocalypse, an adventure game based on the hit webcomic, will release as a timed exclusive on Nintendo Switch this summer
  • Summer in Mara, an action-adventure/framing game from Sapnish studio Chibig, will come to Nintendo Switch as a time console exclusive this spring
  • The Good Life, from director Swery65 (Deadly Premonition, D4) will come to Nintendo Switch this year
  • Finally, the stream ended with Exit the Gungeon, previously exclusive to iOS devices, was announced and released on Nintendo Switch
  • Call of Duty: Warzone has updated an added in a solos mode
  • Sony livestreamed a deep dive into the PlayStation 5’s hardware and specs, hosted by PlayStation producer Mark Cerny, a presentation that was originally planned this year’s GDC
  • Overwatch‘s next hero was revealed to be Echo, with Blizzard releasing a short animation showcasing the character’s origin
  • Square Enix released an update concerning the worldwide physical release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, saying that issues surrounding the COVID-19 epidemic may affect the game’s release for those waiting on release day
  • Global servers for MapleStory 2, released in 2018, will shut down on May 27 (via Nexon)
  • Early Access horror co-op shooter GTFO has released new maps, weapons, and enemies
  • A demo for the Resident Evil 3 remake was released, and it was announced that an open beta for the game’s multiplayer mode will arrive on March 27th
  • GDC has been rescheduled, as GDC Summer, for this summer for Aug. 4-6 after being postponed in February due to COVID-19 concerns (via Polygon)
  • Valve’s Gabe Newell has confirmed that the company is working on a complete overhaul for Artifact, the Dota 2 CCG released in 2018 (via Edge Magazine)
  • As of March 22nd, games retailer GameStop physical locations will be closed to customers and moving to ecommerce delivery only, and will offer curbside pickup at physical locations due coronavirus precautions (via Polygon)
  • Pixar’s Onward is now available to purchase digitally, and will be available stream on Disney Plus on April 3rd
  • It has been reported that actress Rosario Dawson will play Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ character Ahsoka Tano in season two of Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian (via Slash Flim)
