Here are some of the week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and other nerd-related news:

  • Kojima Productions have announced that Death Stranding will come to PC in early summer 2020, published by 505 Games
  • Microsoft is reviving its Xbox All Access Program , which will include an option for subscribers to upgrade to next year’s Project Scarlett console (via Polygon)
  • After teasing last week, EA confirmed that it will be coming back to Steam on
    • The first game to come to the platform will be the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order releasing on Nov. 15
  • EA Sports announced that NBA Live 20 has been cancelled, with the franchise looking to move development to next-gen consoles (via Polygon)
  • Red Dead Online got its first Halloween-themed event in “Fear the Dark”, lasting until Nov. 3
  • Warcraft III: Reforged‘s mutiplayer beta is now live for those registered
  • Sony will be shutting down the PlayStation Vue streaming service on Jan. 30, 2020 (via Polygon)
  • The next Battlefield game will come in 2021 or early 2022 announced during an investor call, and will focus on Apex Legends as its marquee shooter in 2020 (via Polygon)
  • Apex Legends will bring back its Duos mode for a limited time starting on Nov. 5
  • The PlayStation Plus free games for November were announced, 2017’s action RPG Nioh and and first -person horror game Outlast 2
  • Outlast series developer Red Barrels has begun teasing its next game on its Twitter account
  • Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told investors that the company hopes to add cross-platform play to all of its PvP games (via Polygon)
  • Mitsubishi Motors Taiwan has reportedly ended its partnership with Blizzard’s Hearthstone after the recent controversy surrounding the banning of Ng โ€œblitzchungโ€ Wai Chung for pro-Hong Kong statements (via Polygon)
  • Undertale creator Toby Fox revealed that he was asked to compose a track for the upcoming Pokรฉmon Sword and Shield
  • Indie RPG Disco Elysim will come to PS4 and Xbox One in 2020 (via The Escapist)
  • Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has released a performance update for Nintendo Switch after months of reported issues
  • With this weekend Blizzcon event underway, Blizzard announced Diablo IV after years of speculation
  • Along with a cinematic trailer, Blizzard offered a first look at gameplay for three character classes in Diablo IV
  • The next World of Warcraft expansion, Shadowlands, was announced at the event as well
  • The next Hearthstone expansion, Descent of Dragons, was also revealed
  • Blizzard also announced its entry into the autobattler game genre, Hearthstone Battlegrounds
  • After several weeks of leaks, Overwatch 2 was formally announced during Blizzcon’s opening ceremonies as well
  • Along with a cinematic trailer, a quick look at gameplay was teased as well
    • Blizzard confirmed that PvE game modes would be the focus of Overwatch 2
    • All cosmetics from Overwatch will carry over into the second game, and all new characters and PvP maps will be playable in the original game
  • No release date timeline has been confimed for any of the games announced at Blizzcon
  • In movie/streaming news, Netflix released a new trailer for its upcoming The Witcher series, releasing on Dec. 20
  • Disney released a new trailer for The Mandalorian, which premieres on Disney+ starting Nov. 12
  • The first trailer for The Grudge was released, starring John Cho in a revival of the horror series
  • The final trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level was released
    • The film hits theaters on Dec. 13
  • The final trailer for Knives Out, the murder mystery from Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, was released
    • The film comes out Nov. 27
  • Netflix released its first trailer for its adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic Green Eggs and Ham
    • Starring Adam Devine and Michael Douglas, the series premieres on Nov. 8
  • A sequel to Spider-Man: Enter the Spiderverse will arrive in 2022, according to a tease on the movie’s official Twitter account
