Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • The re-release of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game will launch on Jan. 14, 2021

 

  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is coming to mobile devices, including iOS, Android devices, on Dec. 18

 

  • Minecraft‘s RTX update is now available on Windows 10

 

  • Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Sand of Time Remake has been delayed until March 18, 2021
  • According to a new blog post from developer 343 Industries, Halo Infinite is now set to launch in Fall 2021 (via Halo Waypoint)

 

  • A new update for Spider-Man: Miles Morales has added a “Performance RT Mode”, which allows for 60FPS and ray-tracing on PS5

 

  • Windjammers 2 has been delayed to 2021

 

  • Telltale Games recently updated the status of The Wolf Among Us 2, revealing the game could possibly be released as a non-episodic title
  • The Game Awards 2020 saw a litany of game reveals and announcements. Take a look below for a wrap-up of the biggest news from the show

 

  • Final Fantasy VII villain Sephiroth is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the game’s latest DLC character
    • The character is the third fighter to be included as part of the Fighter’s Pass Vol. 2

 

  • The first trailer for former Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood was released

  • The developer also released pre-alpha gameplay, revealing the game’s closed alpha will start on Dec. 18
    • Back 4 Blood is scheduled to releases on PC and consoles on June 21, 2021

 

  • Microsoft and developer The Initiative revealed a reboot of Perfect Dark, the beloved FPS franchise originally developed by Rare

 

  • Indie developer Fullbright (Tacoma, Gone Home) revealed their next game, titled Open Roads starring the voices Keri Russell and Kaitlyn Dever

 

  • Developer Striking Distance Studios revealed their first game, The Callisto Protocol
    • A third-person survival horror game coming from former Visceral Games head Glen Schofield (Dead Space), the game appears to b a spiritual successor to the Dead Space franchise

 

  • Critically acclaimed RPG Disco Elysium is getting an updated version, titled Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
    • The updated game adds voice acting, more dialogue, and new content on PC, PS4, and PS5 in March 2021
    • The update will be free to those who already purchased the game

 

  • BioWare release a new teaser of their next Dragon Age game

 

  • BioWare also teased a new Mass Effect with a teaser trailer, with he game officially now in early production

 

  • Season 3 of Fall Guys was unveiled at The Game Awards, with a winter-themed update for all players including new levels and costumes

 

  • Indie developer DigixArt, the team behind Valiant Hearts and 11:11 Memories Retold, revealed their next game, Road 96

 

  • Director Josef Fares, the director behind A Way Out and a regular guest at The Game Awards, revealed Hazelight’s next co-op game titled It Takes Two

 

  • Survival game Ark: Survival Evolved is getting a sequel in the form of Ark 2, announced in a teaser trailer featuring Vin Diesel

  • Ark is also getting an animated series, featuring the voices of Vin Diesel, Elliot Page, Russell Crow, and more

 

  • Indie developer Scavengers Studio revealed its new game Season, a striking new game from the developers behind The Darwin Project

 

  • Developer Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior series) revealed Evil West, a western/supernatural-themed shooter coming in 2021

 

  • The Muppets’ Swedish Chef is now available in multiplayer cooking game Overcooked! All You Can Eat

 

  • Ghost ‘n Goblins Resurrection, a new entry in the classic hard-as-nails sidescroller franchise, is coming to Nintendo Switch on Feb. 25, 2021

 

  • Capcom is also releasing a collection of classic arcade games to Nintendo Switch in the form of Capcom Arcade Stadium in Feb. 2021
    • The game will be a free download, including 143 – The Battle of Midway, with other games available as DLC purchases

 

  • The popular indie hit multiplayer game Among Us revealed its next new map, The Airship

 

  • Halo‘s Master Chief is coming to Fortnite, along with several Halo cosmetics
    • A Fortnite Creative recreation of the classic map Blood Gulch is also now playable 
  • Here is a list of the award winners, with The Last of Us Part II taking the top prize for Game of the Year – The Game Awards 2020 Winners

 

  • In movie/streaming news, Disney’s Investor Day revealed a cavalcade of new series, films, and more in in the Star wars and Marvel franchises 

  • Marvel revealed a new look at it’s Loki series, coming to Disney+ in May 2021

 

  • A new trailer for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was released, a new Disney+ series coming on March 19, 2021

 

  • The first trailer for the Marvel animated What If…? series was released, arriving on Disney+ in Summer 2021

 

  • Marvel also released a new trailer for its upcoming WandaVision, premiering on Disney+ on Jan. 15, 2021

 

  • A first look at the Ms. Marvel Disney+ series was also teased 

 

  • Production on Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings has wrapped, and the film will come to theaters on July 9, 2021

 

  • Director Nia DaCosta will direct Captain Marvel 2, hitting theaters on Nov. 11, 2022

 

  • Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye in the Disney+ series, along with Hailee Steinfeld confirmed to be playing protégée Kate Bishop 

 

  • New details were revealed regarding the She-Hulk series coming to Disney+, including the return of Tim Roth as Abomination 

 

  • Marvel revealed that Secret Invasion is coming to Disney+, with Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn returning as Nicky Fury and the Skrull Talos respectively

 

  • Ironheart, starring Dominque Thorne as Riri Williams, is coming to Disney+

 

  • Armor Wars, an Iron Man spinoff series, is coming to Disney+

 

  • James Gunn will return to write and direct The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, coming to Disney+ in 2022

 

  • A series of Groot shorts, titled I am Groot, will come to Disney+

 

  • Christian Bale was confirmed to be cast as villain Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder

 

  • Director Peyton Reed will return to direct a third Ant-Man movie in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
    • The film will see the debut of Jonathan Majors as villain Kang the Conqueror

 

  • Jon Watts, director of the Tom Holland led Spider-Man films, will direct Marvel’s Fantastic Four film
  • Black Panther 2 will reportedly not recast Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, and will focus on Wakanda’s supporting cast (via The Verge)

 

  • Continuing from Disney’s Investor Day, Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic was revealed to be a new series coming to Disney+

 

  • Asoka, starring Rosario Dawson reprising her role from The Mandalorian, is coming to Disney+

 

  • Andor, starring Rogue One‘s Diego Luna returning as Cassian Andor, is coming to Disney+ in 2022

 

  • Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, a series taking place 10 years after Star Wars Episode II: Revenge of the Sith

 

  • A first look at Star Wars: The Bad Batch, a new Lucasfilm animated series is coming to Disney+

 

  • Star Wars: Visions, a series of animated shorts coming from several anime teams, is coming to Disney+

 

  • A Lando Calrissian series, titled Lando, is coming to

  • A Taiki Waititi directed Star Wars film was confirmed to be in development

 

  • Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will direct Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

 

  • In other Lucasfilm news, a Willow series is in development and will release in 2022
    • Warwick Davis will return as the titular hero

 

  • A new Indiana Jones was confirmed to be in pre-production, with Logan and Ford v Ferrari director James Mangold directing
    • Harrison Ford will return in the titular role

 

  • In Disney/Pixar news, Lightyear, a Buzz Lightyear film focusing on the titular astronaut, will come to theater on June 17, 2022
    • Chris Evans will voice the “real-life” Buzz Lightyear

 

  • Director Dome Shee, known for the Academy Award winning Bao Pixar short, will direct Pixar’s Turning Red
    • The animated feature comes to theaters on March 11, 2022

 

  • A new Disney animated feature, titled Encanto, is coming to theaters Fall 2021

 

  • Disney and Pan-African entertainment company Kugali will collaborate on a new sci-fi animated series titled Iwájú
    • The series will premiere on Disney+ in 2022

 

  • In non Disney film news, the first trailer for the action black comedy Nobody, starring Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk, was released
