Weekly Wrapup – Spider-Man the Cat Edition

Here are some of last week’s highlights in gaming, movies, and more:

  • Fall Guys has added Sonic the Hedgehog cosmetics as part off the game’s costume store


  • Overwatch‘s Halloween Terror 2020 event is now live on all platforms until Nov. 3
  • Developer Harmonix announced that Rock Band 4 (the game and instruments) will be backwards compatible on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S


  • Sony offered a first-look at the PlayStation 5’s UI and dashboard
    • The video offers a look at the PS5’s control center, chat capabilities, PlayStation Store, game tips capabilities, and more


  • Developer NetherRealm release a new video showcasing Mortal Kombat 11‘s Rain, one of the new characters joining the expanding roster
    • MK 11’s Kombat Pack 2/Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate releases on Nov. 17


  • Bungie announced that the next-gen console upgrades for Destiny 2 will arrive on Dec. 8
    • The studio also announced that the first raid for it’s upcoming expansion, Beyond Light, will release on Nov. 21 (via Bungie)
  • Developer/publisher Gearbox announced that Season 2 of Borderlands 3’s planned DLC will launch alongside the game’s next-gen launch on Nov. 10 (via Polygon)


  • Developer/publisher CD Project Red released episode 4 of Night City Wire, showcasing new details on the gangs, vehicles, and fashion of Cyberpunk 2077
    • CD Project Red is working in partnership with Porsche, as well as Keanu Reeve’s custom motorcycle company Arch


  • Presidential candidate Joe Biden partnered with Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller to showcase the candidate’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons island
  • Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is free on the Epic Games Store until Oct. 22 (via Epic Games
  • The developers of Marvel’s Avengers detailed updates coming to the game in a blog post, revealing that next-gen upgrades to the game would be coming in early 2021 (via Square Enix)
    • Kate Bishop, the first new character coming to the game, was also delayed to early 2021 


  • A physical edition of Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will come to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on Dec. 1


  • Nintendo released a new trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity detailing the game’s story


  • In movie news, actress Anna Taylor-Joy (The Witch, The New Mutants) will star as a young Furiosa in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel (via The Hollywood Reporter)


  • The first trailer for the Monster Hunter movie, based on the popular Capcom franchise, was released
    • Directed by Paul W.S Anderson (Resident Evil films) and starring Milla Jovovich, the action movie is scheduled to release this December
